I was once fat, taking three prescription medications, and using a CPAP machine for my sleep apnea. I looked and felt like crap and the future looked like more of the same. I turned it all around doing the opposite from the traditional way of losing weight and getting fit. I dropped 40 pounds, the meds, the CPAP and the sleep apnea. I've been teaching others to do the same since 2003.

Since I've been on both sides, I can tell you that life is better when you feel good, look good,  and move easily without pain.

You can do it too, if you really want to.

We can show you how.

Originally from New Hampshire, my husband and I retired to Asheville in 2012.  Most of my career was spent in the legal field until 2009 when I decided to pursue my passion to teach yoga and share its health benefits.

I hold certifications in multiple yoga disciplines and in Qigong. I learned firsthand the importance of taking care of your body, living a healthy lifestyle, and doing what you love.  It was not until surviving a cancer diagnosis that I appreciated this valuable lesson.  It is my personal quest to share my 23-year holistic lifestyle model to be healthy, happy and free of cancer with others.  To fulfill this quest, I have founded Journey to be FREE Naturally, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization offering cancer survivorship and prevention programs.  This is also why I love being an exercise instructor for MedStrength.   It is so rewarding to help our clients achieve their personal health goals while infusing aspects of yoga into their workout; witnessing their transformation is amazing!

I graduated from UNC Asheville with an Exercise Physiology degree in 2014. It was at UNC Asheville that I first discovered utilizing fitness assessment as a tool to launch people towards more functional lifestyles. Fitness testing is a great progress measuring tool; physical fitness improvements correlate with healthier biomarkers such as lower blood pressure, better cholesterol ratios, and more efficient metabolisms. This testing background then led me into motivation research and finding ways to meet client needs and desires while still hitting necessary activity levels. MEDStrength is a fantastic place for me to continue implementing assessment and fitness improvement testing to help clients stay motivated to have the best functional and healthy lives possible. I thoroughly enjoy working with our clients day-to-day and understanding what helps keep them working with us and methods to show them the rewards of their efforts.
