Strength Is About Staying in One Piece

Yesterday, while mountain biking, I was powering up hill through a series of very pronounced roots. I hit one the wrong way and the front tire slid-out from under me. I braced for a major impact.

But it didn’t happen.

My right leg shot out, caught the fall, and held.

No impact. No injury.

I picked up the bike and kept going.

That’s what physical strength is for.

It isn’t about vanity.

It isn’t about chasing numbers.

It’s about self-preservation.

Having enough strength to protect your body when something goes wrong.

You don’t train for the perfect moment.

You train for the moment you don’t see coming.

That’s the message I want people to understand.
